## What should a better AI prompt include?

Give the AI a clear task, the context it needs, the source material it should use, any constraints, and the format you want. Explain how you will check whether the answer is useful. PromptPal helps you work through those details.

**A simple example**

Instead of “Write an email”, try:

> Draft a 150-word email for our customers explaining \[the change\]. Use only the facts in \[the attached note\]. Keep the tone calm and direct. Explain what happens next and what the customer needs to do. Ask about missing facts before drafting.

Replace the placeholders with your own context and attach the source note in the chat where you run the task. Then review the draft for accuracy, tone and any claims the source does not support.

## What can you build with PromptPal?

- **A one-off prompt:** clarify a task, research question or draft you want an AI tool to help with.
- **Project instructions:** describe the context and expectations for ongoing work.
- **A thinking or decision prompt:** define the question, evidence and checks you need.
- **A repeatable workflow:** outline the instructions for a recurring task, Skill, custom GPT or AI agent.

## How to use PromptPal to write a better AI prompt

Once you have the PromptPal link and are signed in to ChatGPT, describe your task, answer the context questions, review the generated prompt and run it in a fresh chat.

1. **Describe the job.** Tell PromptPal what you want to do and what a useful result would look like.
2. **Add the context.** Answer its questions about your audience, goals, source material and constraints.
3. **Review and copy the prompt.** Check the details and correct anything that does not fit your task.
4. **Run the task in a fresh chat.** Leave PromptPal, paste the prompt into your chosen AI tool and reattach any source files it needs. For the video’s research example, choose ChatGPT Deep Research.

PromptPal helps prepare the instructions. You still choose the tool and check the answer against your sources and your own judgement.

## What are RISE and ARISE prompts?

In Darragh’s PromptPal walkthrough, ARISE is a way to organise the context and instructions you give an AI tool.

| Part | What to include |
| --- | --- |
| A — Augment | The specific information and source material the AI needs. |
| R — Role | The role you want the AI to play for this task. |
| I — Instructions | What you want the AI to do, including relevant constraints. |
| S — Steps | The sequence it should follow to complete the task. |
| E — End result | The result you want, its format and how you will judge it. |

RISE uses the same Role, Instructions, Steps and End result, without a separate Augment heading. Relevant context still matters. The letters are a checklist to help you describe your task; review the answer against your sources and your own judgement.

What is PromptPal?

PromptPal is a custom GPT that runs in ChatGPT. Created by Darragh Grove-White, it asks clarifying questions and helps you build a prompt around the task, context and outcome you describe.

Do I need to attend a workshop?

No. Anyone can request the PromptPal access link from this page. You can use the walkthrough to get started.

Do I need a ChatGPT account?

Yes. You need to sign in to ChatGPT to chat with PromptPal. Your available models, tools and usage limits depend on your ChatGPT account and plan.

What information should I give PromptPal?

Describe the task, who the result is for, the relevant background or source material, any constraints, and what a useful result should look like. Answer PromptPal’s follow-up questions, then check the generated prompt before you use it.

What is the difference between RISE and ARISE prompts?

In Darragh’s walkthrough, ARISE means Augment, Role, Instructions, Steps and End result. RISE uses Role, Instructions, Steps and End result without a separate Augment heading. The Augment part makes the specific context and source material explicit; relevant context still matters when you use RISE.

Do I have to use ChatGPT Deep Research?

No. Deep Research is the tool used in the video’s research example. PromptPal prepares the instructions; you choose an AI tool that supports your task. Your access to Deep Research and other features depends on your account, plan and available tools.

Can I use my own documents as context?

Yes. Identify the documents or source material the task depends on when you describe it to PromptPal. When you run the generated prompt in a fresh chat, attach the files there too; copying a prompt does not transfer attachments. File support and upload limits depend on the AI tool and your account.

Can I use the prompt in Claude or Gemini?

Yes. PromptPal itself runs in ChatGPT, but you can copy its generated prompt into a fresh chat in Claude, Gemini or another AI tool. Check that the chosen tool supports the task and reattach any files it needs.

Why should I start a fresh chat?

The PromptPal conversation is for building the instructions. A fresh chat lets you use those instructions to do the task, with the model and tools you choose.

Do I have to subscribe to the newsletter?

No. The access email and newsletter updates are separate choices. Request the PromptPal link, and tick the optional updates checkbox only if you want occasional Grove-White & Co. emails.

What if the access email does not arrive?
